Professional Ground Source Heat Pump Solutions
How does a ground source heat pump work?
Ground Source Heat Pumps otherwise known as GSHP’s are designed to extract solar energy (heat) from the ground throughout the year. This heat is absorbed by heat transfer fluid which circulates through a ground collector. The heat is transferred to a refrigerant within the heat pump via an evaporator which is compressed to generate more heat. For every KWh of electricity used a heat pump produces up to 4 KWh of useful energy that can be used to heat a building or hot water cylinder.
Financial incentives available
The government provides financial incentives to promote the use of renewable energy and help the UK lower its carbon emissions. This is known as The Renewable Heat incentive (RHI). The scheme is available for home (domestic) and business owners (non-domestic).
SE Plumbing & Heating are MCS and RECC accredited allowing us to provide government funding though the RHI scheme. Our design team can provide estimated performance calculations and full heat loss calculations.
Increased benefits for off grid locations
Both ground and air source heat pumps are a great solution, particularly for buildings in remote locations that do not have a mains gas supply as running a heat pump is far cheaper than the cost of using an oil or LPG boiler.
We often hear from customers that other companies have suggested they cannot have a heat pump installed with their existing radiator system, that their house is too large or not insulated enough. Although insulation is important and helps reduce running costs, we are finding that this advice is inaccurate and we suggest discussing your requirements with our specialists who will be happy to assess the building heat loss and advise if a heat pump is suitable.
